The Loo Cafe x Water Loop is designed to be a socially empowering addition to the busy urban landscape. In the face of urgent environmental issues such as water scarcity, pollution and the effects of ageing infrastructure, the project explores ecological sanitation and alternative off-grid systems for handling human waste. The café will serve free ‘rain’ drinking water captured and filtered on site and a short menu of snacks and drinks designed to raise awareness of the water footprint of food and make us think about the impact of what we eat on of local and global water resources. This project is a collaboration between Jane Withers Studio, Anupama Kundoo Architects and Ixora FM. The Ancient Design Futures water station further serves both as a viewing station for the short film Ancient Design Futures: Terracotta and promotes refreshing healthy water to combat the environmental scourge of plastic bottled water. This initiative is presented in partnership with British Council India and GHMC Loo Café at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre.
